Epiphany at the Backyard Movie Party!

Okay, so Glendy is back in Chicago safe and sound
with all the expected drama delivered during her
trip, but I am too wiped from living it to talk
about it, so ... I'll just quickly fill you in on our
fabulous backyard movie party. It was fabulous!

We put up a sheet on the garage wall and used a
projector with our DVD player. It was just
like being at the drive-in - without the cars.
The kids had a blast even though we had to wait
for it to get dark so we could see the picture.
I think it's worth mentioning that there were
26 six and seven-year-olds and we had no tears.

As impressed as I was, it made me a little
sad because it reminded me that this is the age
that they start to move into the next phase of
their lives, where they are maturing a little and
becoming more reasonable - but then I remembered
the phase that followed that and snapped out of
it to relish every reasonable moment possible -
time really does fly.

I always used to quote John Cougar (Mellencamp) to
my oldest daughter - 'hold on to 16 as long as you
can, changes come around real soon make us women
and men' and it hit me the other day - she's too old
now - SCARY!
