Week One of Camp Mommywood: Karina & the Kids Visit a Los Angeles Fire Station

Many people don't know that fire stations are open to the public at all times, schedule allowing.
As long as the firefighters are not on a call or in meeting or training, they are happy to give you
and your little ones a tour.  The fire department recommends calling ahead of time and appreciate
your understanding that even a scheduled tour may be cut short if they get a call.

I decided to visit a quieter station upping the chances of getting an extensive tour.  Firefighter
Paramedic Joe Magana was our tour host and he could not have been nicer or more patient as
the kids asked questions, ran around exploring and even made one of those comments only a
child could make.  Firefighter Joe took it all in stride and the kids and I had a great time.
